USB Bulk Driver

Nov 23, 2010 at 10:02 AM

Hello,

I am developing a Driver for my USB device (Bulk type) for Windows CE 6.0. CEDriver Wiz gave me a clue how to start, for which I thank the author. But what next.. Maybe someone familiar with developing drivers could give me an idea how to go on?..

I have a source code for this driver device but for Windows XP where functions are different and don't "fit" to these from driver skeleton.

I would be very grateful for any idea.

Best regards.

Adam.

Just a small hint:

Generally classes of drivers implement most of their functionality through IOCTLs.

There tends to be a standard set of IOCTLs for each type of driver.

eg for a serial COM driver there are about 24 IOCTLs that would be implemented.

These are the real focus of a "serious" driver, hence my emphasis upon IOCTLs in the driver wizard.

Thank you for reply, but I realy don't get your point.

Now I am trying to combine code generated by your wizard and one from Win600\Public\Common\Oak\Drivers\USB\Class\Storage where  there is file "bulktran.cpp", maybe this will get me closer to implementing bulk transport with my device.

Best Regards, Adam.

You would be better off Cloning the Driver.

This is simple if you use the right tool but the CE content menu version (which is the simple one) has a bug.

I will be posting a how-to on this soon on my blog.

I post a reply here when done in a few days.
